About the Artist

Slobodan Trkulja

A legend of the modern Balkan music scene, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer Slobodan Trkulja will represent Serbia at the Intervision 2025 International Music Contest. His name is well-known not only across Europe but far beyond its borders.

The founder of Balkanopolis, Slobodan has spent over 25 years building a unique musical bridge between tradition and modernity. Inspired by Byzantine chant, Serbian folklore, and jazz improvisation, he crafts his music in the ethno-fusion style, where Balkan rhythms, archaic throat singing, electronic elements, symphonic arrangements, and the profound philosophical depth of his lyrics intertwine.

Throughout his career, Trkulja has earned critical acclaim, state honors, and the title of Cultural Ambassador from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A master of over 20 musical instruments, he also educates and inspires younger generations, helping them forge deeper connections with their cultural roots.
