Nguyen Trong Dai is a renowned composer, experienced music educator, and member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Musicians Association. He is fluent in Russian.
He received his higher musical education at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, graduating in 1986 with a degree in composition, music theory, and conducting. Before that, he studied at a similar faculty at the Vietnam College of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music).
As a composer, Nguyen Trong Dai primarily works in the genre of folk and traditional national music. He is the author of dozens of popular songs, instrumental compositions, film soundtracks and television programs, where he also served as an artistic director. Through his works, the composer strives to inspire the public’s love for music.
The Vietnamese government has highly appreciated Trong Dai’s contributions: in 2012, he was awarded the State Prize in Literature and Arts, and in 2015, he received the title of People’s Artist (NSND).
