The International Music Contest “Intervision” will help build a dialogue between cultures and develop new formats of interaction amid global challenges. The contest’s broadcast, utilizing AI and augmented reality, will be accessible to nearly 4.5 billion people from 23 countries. This was announced during a press conference dedicated to the preparation for the Contest, which will take place this week on September 20 at the “Live Arena” venue.
Questions from Russian and foreign journalists were answered by: First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the “Intervision” Supervisory Board Sergey Kiriyenko; Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Contest’s Organizing Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Contest’s Supervisory Board Sergey Lavrov; and General Director of Channel One, Member of the Contest’s Organizing Committee Konstantin Ernst.
Performers from 23 countries will participate in this year’s Contest, representing regions across the globe. In addition to Russia, these include representatives from CIS countries, BRICS, SCO, Africa, Asia and Latin America. Europe, and the USA. Sergey Lavrov emphasized that representatives from Europe and the USA will also perform at the Contest. This confirms the worldwide interest in “Intervision” and the demand for a Contest platform built on the principles of respect for cultures and equal exchange of creative experience.
“Today, we observe a growing interest in genuine cultural diversity. Music, art, and national traditions are increasingly becoming a language of communication that is understood without translation. This is confirmed by examples from different regions of the world: growing interest in folk musical forms, the expanding geography of cultural festivals, and the noticeable presence of traditional genres in the global information space. The main goal of ‘Intervision’ is to create a platform where creativity becomes the most important tool of diplomacy, where art speaks louder than any disagreements, helping to build bridges of trust between peoples,” said Sergey Lavrov.
On September 12, the order of performances was determined at the National Center “Russia,” with Cuba opening the show, India closing it, and Russia performing under number nine.
Sergey Kiriyenko highlighted that the 23 participating countries are home to 4 billion 334 million people, more than half of the planet’s population, all of whom will have the opportunity to watch the broadcast. He recalled that “Intervision” was established 65 years ago, and the songs performed back then are still sung and loved today. “We believe that the songs performed on the 20th at ‘Intervision’ will also live on. Decades from now, they will still be sung in Russia and all other countries,” noted Sergey Kiriyenko.
Dmitry Chernyshenko reviewed the initial outcomes of the extensive preparations for “Intervision”, thanking President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin for their confidence and support of the Contest. He praised the evident results: all involved authorities and the “Art Traditions” Foundation have prepared a magnificent International Music Contest in a short time.
“With the support of Rosmolodezh, young people from nearly all Russian regions actively participated in preparing for ‘Intervision’. Volunteers are the face of the event, with over 500 people from 47 Russian regions participating. Notably, volunteers have come from four friendly countries — Vietnam, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus. They are already at work, meeting participants and guests at airports, assisting with hotel accommodations, accompanying teams, and providing support across the event’s diverse operational areas. “Therefore, we thank our volunteers,” Dmitry Chernyshenko concluded.
The final of the International Music Contest “Intervision” will be broadcast live by Channel One and VK Video, beginning September 20 at 20:30. “A filming crew of 150 is already at the ‘Live Arena’, deploying approximately 36 cameras and implement augmented reality technology. This helps enhance the emotional connection between the performer and the viewer. A major spectacle is expected, and we will do everything possible to achieve this,” said Konstantin Ernst.
“Russia has always been and remains open to honest and respectful cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, inviting friends and partners into a space of mutual understanding. I am convinced that all guests and viewers will receive unforgettable impressions from ‘Intervision’ and become ardent admirers,” Sergey Lavrov said, concluded the press conference.
