Singer Ntsiki Mazwai to Represent South Africa on the International Professional Jury of “Intervision”

South African singer Ntsiki Mazwai has joined the International Professional Jury of “Intervision”. The artist will represent the country whose cultural landscape she has been shaping with her work for over 20 years.

Ntsiki Mazwai’s career is an example of creative courage, sincerity, and genuine talent. She works across various disciplines, combining music, poetry, and social projects. This active stance has made Ntsiki one of the most respected and influential figures of her generation in South Africa.

The art of Ntsiki Mazwai is multifaceted and harmonious, and this is its strength. A deep connection with indigenous African identity, the tradition of storytelling, and spirituality form a powerful foundation of the artist’s style. She has created a musical form through which she conveys to listeners centuries of experience, struggles, and victories of ordinary people, resonating across generations. Her masterful eclectic fusion of musical genres—from soulful Afro-soul and spoken word (artistic declamation) to electronic house music—demonstrates the artist’s versatility and her ability to combine innovation with respect for tradition.

Among Ntsiki Mazwai’s most notable works are the deeply personal album MaMiya (2007), in which the author reflects on love, resilience, and self-understanding; the bold project NDINGUBANI (2010), which combined poetic depth and experimental sound. The pinnacle of the musician’s work is considered to be the album The Masterpiece (2017), uniting house, Afro-soul, and spoken word. In 2005, the singer released one of the year’s best-selling songs—Urongo—and in 2008, she was awarded the SAMA for Best Urban Artist.

Ntsiki is not only a popular musician but also an active public figure. She is widely known for publicly addressing issues of identity, spirituality, femininity, and social justice.

Through her own example, Ntsiki Mazwai demonstrates that music and poetry can be powerful tools for change, healing, and cultural preservation. She can be called the embodiment of the African creative spirit—brave, revolutionary, and fearless in truth. And all these values the singer conveys to listeners through her deeply emotional art.
